Training

We practice once a week. It takes a day, at least if counted in light hours if it is winter.

Photos from search training tends to become blurry and shaky or sharp in the wrong places. Sometimes you miss the whole dog. They are moving!
If you even remember bringing the camera. But this day (25/9-05) The camera was at hand and the weather was nice.

Here is a sequence with the Golden Retriever male Robin:

As figurant you want to hide in an as difficult place as possible for the dog to find. But hiding from a dog is not easy. Here Robin has already scented me, he runs around me once and then he finds me. Can hardly see him through the branches. And he can absolutely not see me.

Now he is back, showing me for mistress Annelie, which he fetched on the path. So now he wants a lot of treats. And he gets it!

We finish with just finding (without showing) this time. So between the sausage pieces I take pictures.
One really can tell he is one of our two elite dogs, can't you?

The Australian Kelpie female Glimmergruvans Z was also in the woods today:

This is n the beginning of Z:s training. She sits waiting for mistress Ing-Marie being shown the square by the "path holder/commander" who is Kent. The reason is to have the same routine in training as on competition. It is also a signal to the dog.

Ursula (to the right) is figurant after an empty strike on the right side. At the left side there already is a figurant, placed below the steep slope.

Z with the loose marker. She gets it from the figurant and that is how our dogs normally, on training, mark that they found a figurant. You can tell she has run forward in the square after getting the marker, and that is the way we want the dogs to run. The people on the path has walked approximately 20 m forwards since she was sent on the strike and now she comes back exactly head on.
Like a 50 m long and 20 m broad U-turn.

This dog is to swift for me and my camera.

Z is a competition dog and is qualified in "high class" which is the class below elite class. Before coming to high you have to pass Appell and lower.

Of course we practice the year around. I prefer without snow, my dogs to actually.
But then they at least get their paws clean!

Bella is mostly training for socializing with humans. She is really a tracking dog but has at an age of 7-years started to do the searching thing.

Before the training. Disa waits for her turn. Its your turn soon.
-Why shall the other dogs train, isn't it enough with me?
